Refractory Metals

Molybdenum (PDF, 0.5 MB) has similar properties to tungsten but with much better machinability which gives it wider application.

TZM (PDF, 0.5 MB) (Titanium-Zirkonium-Molybdenum) a molydenum base alloy, primarily created for high temperature applications. TZM has a higher recristallisation temperature, higher tensile strength than pure molybdenum.

Application

  • High temperature furnace construction: Heating elements, heat shields, sample supports, common structural parts
  • Sintering technique: Sinter boats, transport installations
  • Evaporation technique: Evaporant boats
  • Glas manufacturing: Electrodes for all-electric and electric boosted glass melting furnaces
  • Semi-conductor production: Discs, furnace parts for single-crystal fabrication
